Kaufman Astoria Studios is constructing a 100,000-square-foot office building at 34-11 36th Street with two new stages on its Astoria, Queens campus – located between 34th and 35th Avenues. This unique property on the backlot of the campus will have roughly 68,000 square feet of office space on three floors of the planned four-story building.
The Kaufman Astoria Studios campus – where the property is going to be located on the back lot– is over 500,000 square feet – with nine stages, a lighting and grip company, a music recording and ADR studio and complete production support facilities and services as well as George’s (formerly The Astor Room), a full service restaurant.
Notable works that used production stages at Kaufman Astoria include Men in Black 3, Sesame Street and Orange Is the New Black.
The campus was built in 1920 as the original home for Paramount Pictures. Kaufman Astoria Chairman George Kaufman, who is also the chairman of Kaufman Organization, acquired the property in 1980.
The property is located in the Kaufman Arts District (http://www.kaufmanartsdistrict.org/).
